What is a wakeboard rail jam?
The overly-creative minds of some of wakeboarding’s cutting-edge thrill seekers combined with a little old fashioned ingenuity has lead to the development of the high-speed, gas-powered winch (called the Urban Rider) and one of the newest and most exciting developments in the sports young history. It has given riders the ability to take their sport “to the streets” with the use of portable pools, separated by rails and sliders, and pulled by the winch. Called a “Pool-Gap” or a “Rail Jam”, its action sports up close and in your face and it’s as exciting for the riders as it is for spectators. “Sliding” or “grinding” on rails has been a part of wakeboarding for the past couple of years, but until now it has all happened behind a boat or PWC and on a lake. Now, instead of watching the riders from 100 yards away on the shore, spectators can be just a few feet away from the action.
Why host a wakeboard rail jam?
While the core constituency of action sports events can be found in Gen-X and Y consumers, the industry has caught the attention of a mass audience. Whether you’re 16 or 60, from Asia or North America, action sports events have a vast universal appeal, transcending any language, culture or ethnicity. You just need an appreciation for gravity.
The wakeboard rail jams that we have produced are great marketing tools for our sponsor/partners and a great way to drive traffic to a venue or enhance an existing event.
Where can a rail jam take place?
A wakeboard Rail Jam can take place either indoors or outdoors during the day or at night and in most cases can be set up and ready to go in 6 hours. The space requirements are approximately 200’ long x 50’ wide of level ground (see attached footprint) and access to a city fire hydrant or other water source.
